The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is well known for its high quality research, instruction, Child Development Lab, Family Resiliency Center, and outreach programs. Gifts in support of the Human Development and Family Studies Excellence Fund allow departmental leadership to address the most pressing needs and greatest opportunities to advance the department’s mission to address contemporary social issues that affect children, youth, adults, and families through high quality research, teaching, and outreach. These gifts provide immediate positive impact to support students through scholarships, graduate awards, experiential learning opportunities, faculty research, travel awards, and staff support to name just a few examples.

The Child Development Lab focuses on teaching, research and outreach activities, while simultaneously providing high-quality early care and education services for enrolled children and their families. The Family Resiliency Center (FRC) is a transdisciplinary research and policy center that addresses challenges associated with food and family. A leader in translating research into practical information, the FRC educates the next generation of researchers, practitioners, and community leaders. The Autism Program (TAP) is a community-focused program, providing families and professionals with information and materials, while facilitating collaborations between agencies, schools, and individuals that enhance the community’s capacity and quality of services for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families.
