The Joyce I. Nies Scholarship in Human Development and Family Studies
The Joyce I. Nies Scholarship in Human Development and Family Studies each year awards $1,500 to $2,500 each to two HDFS students. These scholarships result from a generous gift to the University by Dr. Joyce I. Nies, a native of St. Clair County who received her B.S. in vocational home economics, her M.S. in child development, and her Ph.D. in education from the University of Illinois. The application deadline for the Nies Scholarships is May 1 of each year. HDFS students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.4 who will have completed at least 60 hours of credit by the end of the spring semester are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted in April; download the Nies Scholarship application form.
