Faculty in Human Development and Family Studies conduct research on family and interpersonal relationships across the lifespan from a variety of theoretical and methodological perspectives. We are concerned with how relationships develop and change; how family dynamics and interpersonal processes operate; how relationships influence growth, health, and well-being; and how to promote healthy relationships. This includes work on parent-child/adolescent relationships, co-parenting, sibling relationships, peer relationships, romantic relationships between partners (including marriage and divorce), intimate partner conflict and violence, the intersection of family and work, and relationships between youth and adults outside the family.
